Data the app processes on your device

MobiObs is a collector. It receives the data that you configure your equipment to send: syslog messages, Windows Event Log entries forwarded by NXLog, NetFlow, IPFIX and sFlow flow records and counters, and SNMP traps. Depending on what your equipment sends, this data can include IP and MAC addresses, hostnames, user and account names, and message contents.

• This data is stored in a database on the device that received it. It is not sent to us or to any third party.
• How long it is kept depends on the retention settings and your tier. You can delete stored data at any time in Settings, and uninstalling the app removes it.
• You decide what equipment sends data to MobiObs. You are responsible for having the authority to collect it (see the Terms).

When data leaves the device

Collected data leaves the device only when you choose to send it:

• Web UI. The app serves a web interface on your local network over HTTP or HTTPS. Browsers need the access token shown in the app to read data. You control who receives the token.
• Export. When you export data (JSON, NDJSON or CSV), the file goes where you save or share it.
• Sender and Replay. These features transmit test or stored data to a destination address that you enter.
• Peer discovery. To find other MobiObs devices, the app announces its device name, an instance identifier, its version and its web UI ports on the local network, using broadcast and mDNS. It does not include collected data. You can turn discovery off in Settings.

Device permissions

The app asks only for the permissions that its features need:

Purchases and subscriptions

If you buy Pro or Team in the app, Google Play or the Apple App Store processes the payment under its own terms and privacy policy. We never see your card or payment details.

To confirm what you have purchased, the app uses RevenueCat, a subscription management service. RevenueCat receives:

• an anonymous app user ID, generated on the device and not linked to your name or email by us;
• the purchase receipts and transaction details provided by the store, such as product, purchase and renewal dates, and subscription status;
• technical information needed to process requests, such as the device platform, operating system and app version, and the IP address of the request.

RevenueCat does not receive any collected network data. See the RevenueCat privacy policy. The app stores the resulting entitlement (tier and expiry date) on the device.

Licence keys

Licence keys, used for desktop, direct and organisational purchases, contain the licensee name and email address you give us when you buy. For Team licences they also contain your organisation name. Keys are verified offline on the device, and verifying a key does not contact us.

We keep a record of issued keys, including the name, email, organisation and order details you provided, to deliver the key, reassign Team seats, provide support and prevent misuse. If you buy a key directly, the payment provider named at checkout processes the payment.

No analytics or tracking in the app

The MobiObs app contains no analytics, advertising, attribution or crash-reporting SDKs. We do not build profiles, and we do not sell or share personal data for advertising.

This website

• mobiobs.com is a static website with one small server-side function, the launch-list signup described below. It sets no cookies and loads no advertising, trackers or third-party fonts.
• Visitor statistics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views, referring sites, and browser, device type and country in aggregate. It is cookieless: it does not set cookies, use local storage or fingerprint your browser, and it does not build a profile of you or follow you across sites. A small script from static.cloudflareinsights.com reports page load information to Cloudflare. It is the only third-party script on the site. See Cloudflare Web Analytics.
• If you choose a colour theme, the choice is stored in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your browser.
• The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which acts as our hosting provider and content delivery network. As part of delivering the site and protecting it from abuse, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, browser user agent and the pages requested. See the Cloudflare privacy policy.

Launch list

If you use the launch-list form, we store:

• your email address, and the role and use case if you choose to give them;
• when you ticked the consent box and signed up, and which form you used (for example the home page or the footer);
• a random unsubscribe code, and a flag that records that the address has not been confirmed.

Why: to send you launch updates about MobiObs, which means an email when the app is available and, if we run one, an invitation to a beta. The role and use case help us decide which platforms and guides to prioritise. We do not use the list for anything else, and we never sell or share it. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

No confirmation email yet: the site cannot send email yet, so an address is not confirmed when it is added. If you receive a launch email that you did not ask for, use its unsubscribe link and the address is deleted.

Your IP address is not stored with your signup. To limit abuse, the form counts requests per network per day using a one-way hash of the IP address with a salt that changes every day. These counters and salts are deleted after about a day.

Where: the list is kept in a Cloudflare D1 database operated for us by Cloudflare.

Unsubscribe: every email we send contains an unsubscribe link that deletes your address immediately. After you sign up with JavaScript enabled, the confirmation also shows a link that removes your address straight away. You can also write to privacy@mobiobs.com at any time.

Retention: we delete your entry on request, and we delete the whole list within 30 days after we stop using it for launch updates.

Email

When you email us, for example to ask for support, we use your email address and message to reply and to provide the service you asked for. We keep correspondence only as long as needed for that purpose, or as required for accounting and legal obligations. The launch list is handled separately, as described under Launch list.

Your choices and rights

Collected data on your device is under your control: you can view, export or delete it in the app at any time.

For the limited personal data we hold (emails you send us, the launch list and licence records), you can ask us to access, correct or delete it, or object to how we use it, by writing to privacy@mobiobs.com. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.

Our service providers (Google, Apple, RevenueCat and Cloudflare) may process data in countries other than your own, under their own safeguards.

Children

MobiObs is a professional tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page and in the app's release notes.
